Title
Incomplete fix for CVE-2025-40843: safe_strcpy is called with PATH_MAX into fullPath+2, writing 2 bytes past the buffer on every CodeChecker log invocation
Summary
CVE-2025-40843 https://github.com/advisories/GHSA-5xf2-f6ch-6p8r was fixed by replacing unchecked strcpy() with a bounded safe_strcpy() helper.
At ldlogger-tool-gcc.c:129 the destination passed to that helper is fullPath + 2, but the size
passed down is the full PATH_MAX. safe_strcpy() is strncpy(), which NUL-pads the
destination out to the whole n, so this site writes 4096 bytes into the 4094 that remain — a
2-byte stack overflow on every invocation, independent of the input path's length.
This issue affects CodeChecker: through 6.28.2.

ppp(8): missing length validation in LcpDecodeConfig()
Summary
LcpDecodeConfig() did not validate the length of received endpoint discriminator options against the minimum required by RFC 1717. Undersized options would trigger an out-of-bounds write.
A malicious PPP peer can exploit CVE-2026-58095 and CVE-2026-58096 to crash ppp(8) or potentially execute arbitrary code as root.

Title
Race condition in ELF core dump segment counting
Summary
The ELF core dump code counted the number of dumpable VM map entries, allocated a buffer for the corresponding program headers, then iterated over the map a second time to populate them. A process sharing the address space via rfork(2) can mutate the map between the two passes, causing the second pass to write program headers past the end of the buffer.
An unprivileged local user sharing an address space with a process that dumps core can trigger an out-of-bounds write on the kernel heap, potentially leading to privilege escalation.

Title
Heap out-of-bounds access in semctl(2)
Summary
The GETALL and SETALL commands in semctl(2) recorded the number of semaphores in the target set, dropped the lock protecting the set, allocated a buffer sized for that count, and reacquired the lock. A sequence-number check was used to verify that the set had not been replaced in the interim, but the sequence number wraps after 0x8000 create/destroy cycles. By rapidly destroying and recreating semaphore sets at the same index, another process can cause the sequence number to wrap, allowing a set with a different number of semaphores to pass validation. The subsequent copy then reads or writes past the end of the allocated buffer.
An unprivileged local user can trigger out-of-bounds reads and writes on kernel heap memory, potentially leading to privilege escalation.

Title
FFmpeg - Out-of-Bounds Write in RASC Decoder decode_dlta()
Summary
FFmpeg's RASC video decoder (decode_dlta in libavcodec/rasc.c) performs 32-bit reads and writes at the row cursor before the NEXT_LINE row-boundary check and validates the DLTA region in pixel rather than byte units, so a DLTA run on a PAL8 frame can access several bytes past the row allocation. A crafted media stream using the RASC FourCC, decoded by libavcodec, triggers a bitstream-controlled out-of-bounds heap write and adjacent out-of-bounds read, leading to memory corruption.

Summary
An unauthenticated
out-of-bounds write vulnerability exists in onvif.cgi in GeoVision GV-LPC2011
and GV-LPC2211 V1.12 and earlier. The vulnerability is caused by insufficient
bounds checking when processing HTTP request body data. A remote attacker may

Vim: Stack out-of-bounds write in `spell_soundfold_sofo()` via an over-length `soundfold()` argument
Summary
Vim is an open source, command line text editor. Prior to 9.2.0698, the single-byte branch of spell_soundfold_sofo() in src/spell.c translates a word through a spell file's SOFO (sound-folding) byte map into a caller-owned result buffer. Its copy loop advances the output index ri with no upper bound and terminates only on the input NUL, writing one byte per input byte into the MAXWLEN-element stack buffer the caller provides. A word longer than MAXWLEN, passed to soundfold() (or reached via sound-based spell suggestion) while a SOFO-based spell language is active, therefore writes past the end of that buffer. This is a stack out-of-bounds write that corrupts the call frame and crashes the editor. This vulnerability is fixed in 9.2.0698.

Junos OS: SRX Series: If VPN compliance-check is configured an attacker can cause http-gk process crash
Summary
An Out-of-bounds Write vulnerability in the http-gatekeeper (http-gk) of Juniper Networks Junos OS on SRX Series allows an unauthenticated, network-based attacker to cause a Denial-of-Service (DoS).
If an SRX Series device is configured for remote-access VPN with pre-logon compliance check, a network-based attacker sending specifically formatted requests can trigger an out of bounds write leading to an http-gk process crash. This crash leads to unavailability of all services depending on the [ system services web-management ] configuration (like J-Web, remote access VPN and firewall authentication) until the process automatically restarts.

RTKLIB 2.4.3 - Out-of-bounds Write in decode_type1033 via Crafted RTCM3 Message
Summary
RTKLIB through 2.4.3 contains an out-of-bounds write vulnerability in decode_type1033 function that fails to clamp length counters to destination buffer size, allowing up to 191-byte overflow into fixed 64-byte descriptor fields. An attacker controlling an NTRIP or serial RTCM3 correction stream can craft a valid CRC-bearing type-1033 message to corrupt adjacent rtcm_t object members, potentially achieving arbitrary code execution or denial of service.

- Use automatic buffer overflow detection mechanisms that are offered by certain compilers or compiler extensions. Examples include: the Microsoft Visual Studio /GS flag, Fedora/Red Hat FORTIFY_SOURCE GCC flag, StackGuard, and ProPolice, which provide various mechanisms including canary-based detection and range/index checking.

- Consider adhering to the following rules when allocating and managing an application's memory:
- Double check that the buffer is as large as specified.
- When using functions that accept a number of bytes to copy, such as strncpy(), be aware that if the destination buffer size is equal to the source buffer size, it may not NULL-terminate the string.
- Check buffer boundaries if accessing the buffer in a loop and make sure there is no danger of writing past the allocated space.
- If necessary, truncate all input strings to a reasonable length before passing them to the copy and concatenation functions.

Strategy: Environment Hardening
- Run or compile the software using features or extensions that randomly arrange the positions of a program's executable and libraries in memory. Because this makes the addresses unpredictable, it can prevent an attacker from reliably jumping to exploitable code.
- Examples include Address Space Layout Randomization (ASLR) [REF-58] [REF-60] and Position-Independent Executables (PIE) [REF-64]. Imported modules may be similarly realigned if their default memory addresses conflict with other modules, in a process known as "rebasing" (for Windows) and "prelinking" (for Linux) [REF-1332] using randomly generated addresses. ASLR for libraries cannot be used in conjunction with prelink since it would require relocating the libraries at run-time, defeating the whole purpose of prelinking.
