Details: Red Hat OpenShift Service Mesh 3.3.2, which is based on the open source Istio project, addresses a variety of problems in a microservice architecture by creating a centralized point of control in an application. The Go standard library function net/url.Parse insufficiently validated the host/authority component and accepted some invalid URLs by effectively treating garbage before an IP-literal as ignorable. The function should have rejected this as invalid.
