Vulnerability from csaf_redhat - Published: 2022-12-13 14:03 - Updated: 2026-03-18 02:19
Summary
Red Hat Security Advisory: Red Hat Single Sign-On 7.6.1 security update on RHEL 8
Severity
Important
Notes
Topic: New Red Hat Single Sign-On 7.6.1 packages are now available for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8. Red Hat Product Security has rated this update as having a security impact of Important. A Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) base score, which gives a detailed severity rating, is available for each vulnerability from the CVE link(s) in the References section.
Details: Red Hat Single Sign-On 7.6 is a standalone server, based on the Keycloak project, that provides authentication and standards-based single sign-on capabilities for web and mobile applications. This release of Red Hat Single Sign-On 7.6.1 on RHEL 8 serves as a replacement for Red Hat Single Sign-On 7.6.1, and includes the security fixes listed below. Security Fix(es): * keycloak: path traversal via double URL encoding (CVE-2022-3782) * keycloak: Session takeover with OIDC offline refreshtokens (CVE-2022-3916) For more details about the security issue(s), including the impact, a CVSS score, acknowledgments, and other related information, refer to the CVE page(s) listed in the References section.

A flaw was found in Keycloak, where it does not properly validate URLs included in a redirect. An attacker can use this flaw to construct a malicious request to bypass validation and access other URLs and potentially sensitive information within the domain or possibly conduct further attacks. This flaw affects any client that utilizes a wildcard in the Valid Redirect URIs field.

CWE-22 - Improper Limitation of a Pathname to a Restricted Directory ('Path Traversal')
Vendor Fix For details on how to apply this update, which includes the changes described in this advisory, refer to: https://access.redhat.com/articles/11258 https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2022:8962

A flaw was found in the offline_access scope in Keycloak. This issue would affect users of shared computers more (especially if cookies are not cleared), due to a lack of root session validation, and the reuse of session ids across root and user authentication sessions. This enables an attacker to resolve a user session attached to a previously authenticated user; when utilizing the refresh token, they will be issued a token for the original user.

CWE-384 - Session Fixation

This issue would affect users of shared computers more (especially if cookies are not cleared), due to a lack of root session validation, and the reuse of session ids across root and user authentication sessions. This enables an attacker to resolve a user session attached to a previously authenticated user; when utilizing the refresh token, they will be issued a token for the original user.",
