Vim is a highly configurable text editor built to enable efficient text editing. It is an improved version of the vi editor distributed with most UNIX systems.

A vulnerability has been found in vim up to 9.2.479 (Word Processing Software) and classified as critical. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-94. The product constructs all or part of a code segment using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the syntax or behavior of the intended code segment. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. Upgrading to version 9.2.480 eliminates this vulnerability.(CVE-2026-43961)
