Title
net/smc: fix wrong list_del in smc_lgr_cleanup_early
Summary
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net/smc: fix wrong list_del in smc_lgr_cleanup_early smc_lgr_cleanup_early() meant to delete the link group from the link group list, but it deleted the list head by mistake. This may cause memory corruption since we didn't remove the real link group from the list and later memseted the link group structure. We got a list corruption panic when testing: [ 231.277259] list_del corruption. prev->next should be ffff8881398a8000, but was 0000000000000000 [ 231.278222] ------------[ cut here ]------------ [ 231.278726] kernel BUG at lib/list_debug.c:53! The CLC exchange is ordinary TCP payload to an SMC listener, so a remote peer can trigger it without local access.
AC:L - The attacker fully controls the handshake: send a valid Proposal so the server creates the lgr and Accepts, then abort Confirm or tear down the TCP session to force cleanup_early. No race or attacker-uncontrollable memory layout is required; RDMA/ISM presence is the victim's normal SMC deployment, not an AC:H condition.
PR:N - The CLC handshake runs immediately after TCP connect and before any application authentication; socket(AF_SMC)/smc_create() also has no capability check. An unauthenticated remote peer that can reach the SMC listener is sufficient.
UI:N - smc_listen_work() processes the handshake automatically; the attacker only needs to connect and drive the CLC sequence against an already-listening SMC socket.
S:U - The corruption is confined to kernel heap/list state in the SMC subsystem on the host; it does not cross a VM, IOMMU, or other security-authority boundary.
C:H - Wrong list_del_init() on the list head leaves other link groups linked through a freed/memset'd smc_link_group, yielding a classic heap UAF that can expose and be groomed for arbitrary kernel reads.
I:H - The commit documents memory corruption from failing to unlink the real lgr then zeroing/freeing it while list neighbors still point at it; subsequent list_del/terminate paths write through corrupted list pointers, enabling heap corruption and control-flow hijack.
A:H - The reported failure is an immediate kernel BUG at lib/list_debug.c (list corruption with NULL prev->next) in smc_link_down_work/smc_lgr_terminate_sched, i.e. a reliable kernel panic the attacker can retrigger."

A:H - The reported failure is an immediate kernel BUG at lib/list_debug.c (list corruption with NULL prev->next) in smc_link_down_work/smc_lgr_terminate_sched, i.e. a reliable kernel panic the attacker can retrigger."}]}], "affected": [{"repo":
