Summary
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
inet: inet_defrag: prevent sk release while still in use
ip_local_out() and other functions can pass skb->sk as function argument.
If the skb is a fragment and reassembly happens before such function call
returns, the sk must not be released.
This affects skb fragments reassembled via netfilter or similar
modules, e.g. openvswitch or ct_act.c, when run as part of tx pipeline.
Eric Dumazet made an initial analysis of this bug. Quoting Eric:
Calling ip_defrag() in output path is also implying skb_orphan(),
which is buggy because output path relies on sk not disappearing.
A relevant old patch about the issue was :
8282f27449bf ("inet: frag: Always orphan skbs inside ip_defrag()")
[..]
net/ipv4/ip_output.c depends on skb->sk being set, and probably to an
inet socket, not an arbitrary one.
If we orphan the packet in ipvlan, then downstream things like FQ
packet scheduler will not work properly.
We need to change ip_defrag() to only use skb_orphan() when really
needed, ie whenever frag_list is going to be used.
Eric suggested to stash sk in fragment queue and made an initial patch.
However there is a problem with this:
If skb is refragmented again right after, ip_do_fragment() will copy
head->sk to the new fragments, and sets up destructor to sock_wfree.
IOW, we have no choice but to fix up sk_wmem accouting to reflect the
fully reassembled skb, else wmem will underflow.
This change moves the orphan down into the core, to last possible moment.
As ip_defrag_offset is aliased with sk_buff->sk member, we must move the
offset into the FRAG_CB, else skb->sk gets clobbered.
This allows to delay the orphaning long enough to learn if the skb has
to be queued or if the skb is completing the reasm queue.
In the former case, things work as before, skb is orphaned. This is
safe because skb gets queued/stolen and won't continue past reasm engine.
In the latter case, we will steal the skb->sk reference, reattach it to
the head skb, and fix up wmem accouting when inet_frag inflates truesize.

skb->sk as function argument.

In the latter case, we will steal the skb->sk reference, reattach it to
the head skb, and fix up wmem accouting when inet_frag inflates truesize." }

https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/1b6de5e6575b56502665c65cf93b0ae6aa0f51ab"
https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/9705f447bf9a6cd088300ad2c407b5e1c6591091"
https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/4318608dc28ef184158b4045896740716bea23f0"
https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/7d0567842b78390dd9b60f00f1d8f838d540e325"
https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/f4877225313d474659ee53150ccc3d553a978727"
https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/e09cbe017311508c21e0739e97198a8388b98981"
https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/18685451fc4e546fc0e718580d32df3c0e5c8272" }
} }

CVE_RECORD
5.1" }

Summary
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
net: gso: fix ownership in __udp_gso_segment
In __udp_gso_segment the skb destructor is removed before segmenting the
skb but the socket reference is kept as-is. This is an issue if the
original skb is later orphaned as we can hit the following bug:
kernel BUG at ./include/linux/skbuff.h:3312! (skb_orphan)
RIP: 0010:ip_rcv_core+0x8b2/0xca0
Call Trace:
ip_rcv+0xab/0x6e0
__netif_receive_skb_one_core+0x168/0x1b0
process_backlog+0x384/0x1100
__napi_poll.constprop.0+0xa1/0x370
net_rx_action+0x925/0xe50
The above can happen following a sequence of events when using
OpenVSwitch, when an OVS_ACTION_ATTR_USERSPACE action precedes an
OVS_ACTION_ATTR_OUTPUT action:
1. OVS_ACTION_ATTR_USERSPACE is handled (in do_execute_actions): the skb
goes through queue_gso_packets and then __udp_gso_segment, where its
destructor is removed.
2. The segments' data are copied and sent to userspace.
3. OVS_ACTION_ATTR_OUTPUT is handled (in do_execute_actions) and the
same original skb is sent to its path.
4. If it later hits skb_orphan, we hit the bug.
Fix this by also removing the reference to the socket in
__udp_gso_segment.

Summary
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
xsk: fix an integer overflow in xp_create_and_assign_umem()
Since the i and pool->chunk_size variables are of type 'u32',
their product can wrap around and then be cast to 'u64'.
This can lead to two different XDP buffers pointing to the same
memory area.

Summary
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
ext4: fix OOB read when checking dotdot dir
Mounting a corrupted filesystem with directory which contains '.' dir
entry with rec_len == block size results in out-of-bounds read (later
on, when the corrupted directory is removed).
ext4_empty_dir() assumes every ext4 directory contains at least '.'
and '..' as directory entries in the first data block. It first loads
the '.' dir entry, performs sanity checks by calling ext4_check_dir_entry()
and then uses its rec_len member to compute the location of '..' dir
entry (in ext4_next_entry). It assumes the '..' dir entry fits into the
same data block.
If the rec_len of '.' is precisely one block (4KB), it slips through the
sanity checks (it is considered the last directory entry in the data
block) and leaves "struct ext4_dir_entry_2 *de" point exactly past the
memory slot allocated to the data block. The following call to
ext4_check_dir_entry() on new value of de then dereferences this pointer
which results in out-of-bounds mem access.
Fix this by extending __ext4_check_dir_entry() to check for '.' dir
entries that reach the end of data block. Make sure to ignore the phony
dir entries for checksum (by checking name_len for non-zero).
Note: This is reported by KASAN as use-after-free in case another
structure was recently freed from the slot past the bound, but it is
really an OOB read.
This issue was found by syzkaller tool.

Summary
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
powerpc/lib: Validate size for vector operations
Some of the fp/vmx code in sstep.c assume a certain maximum size for the
instructions being emulated. The size of those operations however is
determined separately in analyse_instr().
Add a check to validate the assumption on the maximum size of the
operations, so as to prevent any unintended kernel stack corruption.

Summary
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
drm/amdgpu: Fix potential out-of-bounds access in 'amdgpu_discovery_reg_base_init()'
The issue arises when the array 'adev->vcn.vcn_config' is accessed
before checking if the index 'adev->vcn.num_vcn_inst' is within the
bounds of the array.
The fix involves moving the bounds check before the array access. This
ensures that 'adev->vcn.num_vcn_inst' is within the bounds of the array
before it is used as an index.
Fixes the below:
drivers/gpu/drm/amd/amdgpu/amdgpu_discovery.c:1289 amdgpu_discovery_reg_base_init() error: testing array offset 'adev->vcn.num_vcn_inst' after use.

Summary
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
scsi: lpfc: Fix possible memory leak in lpfc_rcv_padisc()
The call to lpfc_sli4_resume_rpi() in lpfc_rcv_padisc() may return an
unsuccessful status. In such cases, the elsiocb is not issued, the
completion is not called, and thus the elsiocb resource is leaked.
Check return value after calling lpfc_sli4_resume_rpi() and conditionally
release the elsiocb resource.

Summary
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
nsh: Restore skb->{protocol,data,mac_header} for outer header in nsh_gso_segment().
syzbot triggered various splats (see [0] and links) by a crafted GSO
packet of VIRTIO_NET_HDR_GSO_UDP layering the following protocols:
ETH_P_8021AD + ETH_P_NSH + ETH_P_IPV6 + IPPROTO_UDP
NSH can encapsulate IPv4, IPv6, Ethernet, NSH, and MPLS. As the inner
protocol can be Ethernet, NSH GSO handler, nsh_gso_segment(), calls
skb_mac_gso_segment() to invoke inner protocol GSO handlers.
nsh_gso_segment() does the following for the original skb before
calling skb_mac_gso_segment()
1. reset skb->network_header
2. save the original skb->{mac_heaeder,mac_len} in a local variable
3. pull the NSH header
4. resets skb->mac_header
5. set up skb->mac_len and skb->protocol for the inner protocol.
and does the following for the segmented skb
6. set ntohs(ETH_P_NSH) to skb->protocol
7. push the NSH header
8. restore skb->mac_header
9. set skb->mac_header + mac_len to skb->network_header
10. restore skb->mac_len
There are two problems in 6-7 and 8-9.
(a)
After 6 & 7, skb->data points to the NSH header, so the outer header
(ETH_P_8021AD in this case) is stripped when skb is sent out of netdev.
Also, if NSH is encapsulated by NSH + Ethernet (so NSH-Ethernet-NSH),
skb_pull() in the first nsh_gso_segment() will make skb->data point
to the middle of the outer NSH or Ethernet header because the Ethernet
header is not pulled by the second nsh_gso_segment().
(b)
While restoring skb->{mac_header,network_header} in 8 & 9,
nsh_gso_segment() does not assume that the data in the linear
buffer is shifted.
However, udp6_ufo_fragment() could shift the data and change
skb->mac_header accordingly as demonstrated by syzbot.
If this happens, even the restored skb->mac_header points to
the middle of the outer header.
It seems nsh_gso_segment() has never worked with outer headers so far.
At the end of nsh_gso_segment(), the outer header must be restored for
the segmented skb, instead of the NSH header.
To do that, let's calculate the outer header position relatively from
the inner header and set skb->{data,mac_header,protocol} properly.

Ethernet (so NSH-Ethernet-NSH),
skb_pull() in the first nsh_gso_segment() will make skb->data point
to the middle of the outer NSH or Ethernet header because the Ethernet
header is not pulled by the second nsh_gso_segment().

(b)
While restoring skb->{mac_header,network_header} in 8 & 9,
nsh_gso_segment() does not assume that the data in the linear
buffer is shifted.

[0]:
BUG: KMSAN: uninit-value in ipvlan_process_outbound drivers/net/ipvlan/ipvlan_core.c:524 [inline]
BUG: KMSAN: uninit-value in ipvlan_xmit_mode_l3 Summary
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
vlan: enforce underlying device type
Currently, VLAN devices can be created on top of non-ethernet devices.
Besides the fact that it doesn't make much sense, this also causes a
bug which leaks the address of a kernel function to usermode.
When creating a VLAN device, we initialize GARP (garp_init_applicant)
and MRP (mrp_init_applicant) for the underlying device.
As part of the initialization process, we add the multicast address of
each applicant to the underlying device, by calling dev_mc_add.
__dev_mc_add uses dev->addr_len to determine the length of the new
multicast address.
This causes an out-of-bounds read if dev->addr_len is greater than 6,
since the multicast addresses provided by GARP and MRP are only 6
bytes long.
This behaviour can be reproduced using the following commands:
ip tunnel add gretest mode ip6gre local ::1 remote ::2 dev lo
ip l set up dev gretest
ip link add link gretest name vlantest type vlan id 100
Then, the following command will display the address of garp_pdu_rcv:
ip maddr show | grep 01:80:c2:00:00:21
Fix the bug by enforcing the type of the underlying device during VLAN
device initialization.

The problem appears to be caused by CPU reordering of writes issued from
__tracing_map_insert().
The check for the presence of an element with a given key in this
function is:
val = READ_ONCE(entry->val);
if (val && keys_match(key, val->key, map->key_size)) ...
The write of a new entry is:
elt = get_free_elt(map);
memcpy(elt->key, key, map->key_size);
entry->val = elt;
The "memcpy(elt->key, key, map->key_size);" and "entry->val = elt;"
stores may become visible in the reversed order on another CPU. This
second CPU might then incorrectly determine that a new key doesn't match
an already present val->key and subse

Summary
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
wifi: ath12k: Fix invalid data access in ath12k_dp_rx_h_undecap_nwifi
In certain cases, hardware might provide packets with a
length greater than the maximum native Wi-Fi header length.
This can lead to accessing and modifying fields in the header
within the ath12k_dp_rx_h_undecap_nwifi function for
DP_RX_DECAP_TYPE_NATIVE_WIFI decap type and
potentially resulting in invalid data access and memory corruption.
Add a sanity check before processing the SKB to prevent invalid
data access in the undecap native Wi-Fi function for the
DP_RX_DECAP_TYPE_NATIVE_WIFI decap type.
Tested-on: QCN9274 hw2.0 PCI WLAN.WBE.1.3.1-00173-QCAHKSWPL_SILICONZ-1

Summary
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
net: fix geneve_opt length integer overflow
struct geneve_opt uses 5 bit length for each single option, which
means every vary size option should be smaller than 128 bytes.
However, all current related Netlink policies cannot promise this
length condition and the attacker can exploit a exact 128-byte size
option to *fake* a zero length option and confuse the parsing logic,
further achieve heap out-of-bounds read.
One example crash log is like below:
