Vulnerability from github – Published: 2024-10-21 12:30 – Updated: 2026-05-12 12:32

Details

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

netfilter: nf_reject_ipv6: fix nf_reject_ip6_tcphdr_put()

syzbot reported that nf_reject_ip6_tcphdr_put() was possibly sending garbage on the four reserved tcp bits (th->res1)

Use skb_put_zero() to clear the whole TCP header, as done in nf_reject_ip_tcphdr_put()

Summary
Use of unitialized value in TFLite
Details

Impact

All TFLite operations that use quantization can be made to use unitialized values. For example:

    const auto* affine_quantization =
        reinterpret_cast<TfLiteAffineQuantization*>(
            filter->quantization.params);

The issue stems from the fact that quantization.params is only valid if quantization.type is different that kTfLiteNoQuantization. However, these checks are missing in large parts of the code.

Patches

We have patched the issue in GitHub commits 537bc7c723439b9194a358f64d871dd326c18887, 4a91f2069f7145aab6ba2d8cfe41be8a110c18a5 and 8933b8a21280696ab119b63263babdb54c298538.

The fix will be included in TensorFlow 2.6.0. We will also cherrypick this commit on TensorFlow 2.5.1, TensorFlow 2.4.3, and TensorFlow 2.3.4, as these are also affected and still in supported range.

  "details": "### Impact\nAll TFLite operations that use quantization can be made to use unitialized values. [For example](https://github.com/tensorflow/tensorflow/blob/460e000de3a83278fb00b61a16d161b1964f15f4/tensorflow/lite/kernels/depthwise_conv.cc#L198-L200):\n\n```cc\n const auto* affine_quantization =\n reinterpret_cast\u003cTfLiteAffineQuantization*\u003e(\n filter-\u003equantization.params);\n```\n\nThe issue stems from the fact that `quantization.params` is only valid if `quantization.type` is different that `kTfLiteNoQuantization`. However, these checks are missing in large parts of the code.\n\n### Patches\nWe have patched the issue in GitHub commits [537bc7c723439b9194a358f64d871dd326c18887](https://github.com/tensorflow/tensorflow/commit/537bc7c723439b9194a358f64d871dd326c18887),\n[4a91f2069f7145aab6ba2d8cfe41be8a110c18a5](https://github.com/tensorflow/tensorflow/commit/4a91f2069f7145aab6ba2d8cfe41be8a110c18a5) and [8933b8a21280696ab119b63263babdb54c298538](https://github.com/tensorflow/tensorflow/commit/8933b8a21280696ab119b63263babdb54c298538).\n\nThe fix will be included in TensorFlow 2.6.0. We will also cherrypick this commit on TensorFlow 2.5.1, TensorFlow 2.4.3, and TensorFlow 2.3.4, as these are also affected and still in supported range.\n\n### For more information\nPlease consult [our security guide](https://github.com/tensorflow/tensorflow/blob/master/SECURITY.md) for more information regarding the security model and how to contact us with issues and questions.\n\n### Attribution \nThis vulnerability has been reported by members of the Aivul Team from Qihoo 360. Trimble SketchUp Viewer SKP File Parsing Uninitialized Variable Remote Code Execution Vulnerability. This vulnerability allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code on affected installations of Trimble SketchUp Viewer. User interaction is required to exploit this vulnerability in that the target must visit a malicious page or open a malicious file.

The specific flaw exists within the parsing of SKP files. The issue results from the lack of proper initialization of memory prior to accessing it. An attacker can leverage this vulnerability to execute code in the context of the current process. Was ZDI-CAN-24101.

Details

There's a flaw in binutils /opcodes/tic4x-dis.c. An attacker who is able to submit a crafted input file to be processed by binutils could cause usage of uninitialized memory. The highest threat is to application availability with a lower threat to data confidentiality. This flaw affects binutils versions prior to 2.34.

GHSA-4H53-XCVW-8WPX

Vulnerability from github – Published: 2024-05-17 12:31 – Updated: 2026-05-12 12:31
VLAI
Details

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

cpumap: Zero-initialise xdp_rxq_info struct before running XDP program

When running an XDP program that is attached to a cpumap entry, we don't initialise the xdp_rxq_info data structure being used in the xdp_buff that backs the XDP program invocation. Tobias noticed that this leads to random values being returned as the xdp_md->rx_queue_index value for XDP programs running in a cpumap.

This means we're basically returning the contents of the uninitialised memory, which is bad. Fix this by zero-initialising the rxq data structure before running the XDP program.

  "details": "In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:\n\ncpumap: Zero-initialise xdp_rxq_info struct before running XDP program\n\nWhen running an XDP program that is attached to a cpumap entry, we don\u0027t\ninitialise the xdp_rxq_info data structure being used in the xdp_buff\nthat backs the XDP program invocation. Tobias noticed that this leads to\nrandom values being returned as the xdp_md-\u003erx_queue_index value for XDP\nprograms running in a cpumap.\n\nThis means we\u0027re basically returning the contents of the uninitialised\nmemory, which is bad. Fix this by zero-initialising the rxq data\nstructure before running the XDP program.",

Mitigation
Implementation

Explicitly initialize the resource before use. If this is performed through an API function or standard procedure, follow all required steps.

Mitigation
Implementation

Pay close attention to complex conditionals that affect initialization, since some branches might not perform the initialization.

Mitigation
Implementation

Avoid race conditions (CWE-362) during initialization routines.

Mitigation
Build and Compilation

Run or compile the product with settings that generate warnings about uninitialized variables or data.

No CAPEC attack patterns related to this CWE.
