GHSA-P37W-XHV5-6C8J

Vulnerability from github – Published: 2026-04-24 15:32 – Updated: 2026-04-29 18:31
VLAI
Details

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

smb: client: fix off-by-8 bounds check in check_wsl_eas()

The bounds check uses (u8 *)ea + nlen + 1 + vlen as the end of the EA name and value, but ea_data sits at offset sizeof(struct smb2_file_full_ea_info) = 8 from ea, not at offset 0. The strncmp() later reads ea->ea_data[0..nlen-1] and the value bytes follow at ea_data[nlen+1..nlen+vlen], so the actual end is ea->ea_data + nlen + 1 + vlen. Isn't pointer math fun?

The earlier check (u8 )ea > end - sizeof(ea) only guarantees the 8-byte header is in bounds, but since the last EA is placed within 8 bytes of the end of the response, the name and value bytes are read past the end of iov.

Fix this mess all up by using ea->ea_data as the base for the bounds check.

An "untrusted" server can use this to leak up to 8 bytes of kernel heap into the EA name comparison and influence which WSL xattr the data is interpreted as.

GHSA-P39G-X9XH-7WQ9

Vulnerability from github – Published: 2026-07-25 12:31 – Updated: 2026-07-27 06:30
VLAI
Details

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

Input: synaptics-rmi4 - bound the F3A keymap to the GPIO count

rmi_f3a_initialize() takes the GPIO count from the device query register (f3a->gpio_count = buf & RMI_F3A_GPIO_COUNT, range 0..127). rmi_f3a_map_gpios() then allocates gpio_key_map with min(gpio_count, TRACKSTICK_RANGE_END) == at most 6 entries, but rmi_f3a_attention() iterates the full gpio_count and dereferences gpio_key_map[i], and input->keycodemax is set to the full gpio_count while input->keycode points at the 6-entry allocation.

A device that reports gpio_count > 6 therefore causes an out-of-bounds read of gpio_key_map[] on every attention interrupt, and out-of-bounds accesses through the input core's default keymap ioctls: EVIOCGKEYCODE reads past the buffer (leaking adjacent slab memory to user space) and EVIOCSKEYCODE writes a caller-controlled value past it, for any process able to open the evdev node, since input_default_getkeycode() and input_default_setkeycode() only bound the index against keycodemax.

Size the keymap for the full gpio_count. The mapping loop is unchanged: it still assigns only the first min(gpio_count, TRACKSTICK_RANGE_END) entries; the remaining slots stay KEY_RESERVED (devm_kcalloc zero-fills) and are skipped when reporting.

Vulnerability from github – Published: 2026-03-03 15:31 – Updated: 2026-03-03 18:31
VLAI
Details

An out-of-bounds read vulnerability exists in the ABF parsing functionality of The Biosig Project libbiosig 3.9.2 and Master Branch (5462afb0). A specially crafted .abf file can lead to an information leak. An attacker can provide a malicious file to trigger this vulnerability.

Mitigation MIT-5
Implementation

Strategy: Input Validation

  • Assume all input is malicious. Use an "accept known good" input validation strategy, i.e., use a list of acceptable inputs that strictly conform to specifications. Reject any input that does not strictly conform to specifications, or transform it into something that does.
  • When performing input validation, consider all potentially relevant properties, including length, type of input, the full range of acceptable values, missing or extra inputs, syntax, consistency across related fields, and conformance to business rules. As an example of business rule logic, "boat" may be syntactically valid because it only contains alphanumeric characters, but it is not valid if the input is only expected to contain colors such as "red" or "blue."
  • Do not rely exclusively on looking for malicious or malformed inputs. This is likely to miss at least one undesirable input, especially if the code's environment changes. This can give attackers enough room to bypass the intended validation. However, denylists can be useful for detecting potential attacks or determining which inputs are so malformed that they should be rejected outright.
  • To reduce the likelihood of introducing an out-of-bounds read, ensure that you validate and ensure correct calculations for any length argument, buffer size calculation, or offset. Be especially careful of relying on a sentinel (i.e. special character such as NUL) in untrusted inputs.
Mitigation
Architecture and Design

Strategy: Language Selection

Use a language that provides appropriate memory abstractions.

CAPEC-540: Overread Buffers

An adversary attacks a target by providing input that causes an application to read beyond the boundary of a defined buffer. This typically occurs when a value influencing where to start or stop reading is set to reflect positions outside of the valid memory location of the buffer. This type of attack may result in exposure of sensitive information, a system crash, or arbitrary code execution.
