var-202205-1646
Vulnerability from variot

Nokogiri is an open source XML and HTML library for Ruby. Nokogiri prior to version 1.13.6 does not type-check all inputs into the XML and HTML4 SAX parsers, allowing specially crafted untrusted inputs to cause illegal memory access errors (segfault) or reads from unrelated memory. Version 1.13.6 contains a patch for this issue. As a workaround, ensure the untrusted input is a String by calling #to_s or equivalent. Nokogiri contains a type confusion vulnerability.Information is obtained and service operation is interrupted (DoS) It may be in a state. Nokogiri versions 1.13.6-1.1 and later have a security vulnerability that could be exploited by an attacker to trigger Nokogiri's memory corruption, triggering a denial of service and potentially running code. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Gentoo Linux Security Advisory GLSA 202208-29

    "data": "Nokogiri is an open source XML and HTML library for Ruby. Nokogiri prior to version 1.13.6 does not type-check all inputs into the XML and HTML4 SAX parsers, allowing specially crafted untrusted inputs to cause illegal memory access errors (segfault) or reads from unrelated memory. Version 1.13.6 contains a patch for this issue. As a workaround, ensure the untrusted input is a `String` by calling `#to_s` or equivalent. Nokogiri contains a type confusion vulnerability.Information is obtained and service operation is interrupted (DoS) It may be in a state. Nokogiri versions 1.13.6-1.1 and later have a security vulnerability that could be exploited by an attacker to trigger Nokogiri\u0027s memory corruption, triggering a denial of service and potentially running code. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -\nGentoo Linux Security Advisory                           GLSA 202208-29\n- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -\n                                           https://security.gentoo.org/\n- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -\n\n Severity: Low\n    Title: Nokogiri: Multiple Vulnerabilities\n     Date: August 14, 2022\n     Bugs: #846623, #837902, #762685\n       ID: 202208-29\n\n- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -\n\nSynopsis\n=======\nMultiple vulnerabilities have been discovered in Nokogiri, the worst of\nwhich could result in denial of service. \n\nBackground\n=========\nNokogiri is an HTML, XML, SAX, and Reader parser. \n\nAffected packages\n================\n    -------------------------------------------------------------------\n     Package              /     Vulnerable     /            Unaffected\n    -------------------------------------------------------------------\n  1  dev-ruby/nokogiri          \u003c 1.13.6                    \u003e= 1.13.6\n\nDescription\n==========\nMultiple vulnerabilities have been discovered in Nokogiri.
