var-202102-0421
Vulnerability from variot

A vulnerability was found in openvswitch. A limitation in the implementation of userspace packet parsing can allow a malicious user to send a specially crafted packet causing the resulting megaflow in the kernel to be too wide, potentially causing a denial of service. The highest threat from this vulnerability is to system availability.

For the stable distribution (buster), this problem has been fixed in version 2.10.7+ds1-0+deb10u1.

We recommend that you upgrade your openvswitch packages.

For the detailed security status of openvswitch please refer to its security tracker page at: https://security-tracker.debian.org/tracker/openvswitch

Synopsis: Moderate: OpenShift Container Platform 4.7.4 security update Advisory ID: RHSA-2021:0957-01 Product: Red Hat OpenShift Enterprise Advisory URL: https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2021:0957 Issue date: 2021-03-30 CVE Names: CVE-2020-27827 CVE-2020-35498 CVE-2021-3114 =====================================================================

  1. Summary:

Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform release 4.7.4 is now available with updates to packages and images that fix several bugs and add enhancements.

Red Hat Product Security has rated this update as having a security impact of Moderate. A Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) base score, which gives a detailed severity rating, is available for each vulnerability from the CVE link(s) in the References section.

  1. Description:

Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform is Red Hat's cloud computing Kubernetes application platform solution designed for on-premise or private cloud deployments.

Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform is Red Hat's cloud computing Kubernetes application platform solution designed for on-premise or private cloud deployments.

This advisory contains the container images for Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform 4.7.4. See the following advisory for the RPM packages for this release:

https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2021:0958

Space precludes documenting all of the container images in this advisory. See the following Release Notes documentation, which will be updated shortly for this release, for details about these changes:

https://docs.openshift.com/container-platform/4.7/release_notes/ocp-4-7-rel ease-notes.html

This update fixes the following bugs among others:

  • A flaw was found in golang: crypto/elliptic, in which P-224 keys as generated could return incorrect inputs, which reduced the strength of the cryptography. (BZ#1918750)

  • This update adds new capabilities to the Baremetal Operator, allowing for different reboot modes to be utilized. This allows workloads to be relocated as quickly as possible in the event of a node failure. Additionally, it provides a path for clients to quickly power down systems for remediation purposes and to recover workloads. As a result, workload recovery time is significantly reduced. (BZ#1936407)

openvswitch vulnerability

A security issue affects these releases of Ubuntu and its derivatives:

  • Ubuntu 20.10
  • Ubuntu 20.04 LTS
  • Ubuntu 18.04 LTS
  • Ubuntu 16.04 LTS

Summary:

Open vSwitch could be made to crash or perform unexpectedly if it received specially crafted network traffic.

Software Description: - openvswitch: Ethernet virtual switch

Details:

Joakim Hindersson discovered that Open vSwitch incorrectly parsed certain network packets. A remote attacker could use this issue to cause a denial of service, or possibly alter packet classification.

Update instructions:

The problem can be corrected by updating your system to the following package versions:

Ubuntu 20.10: openvswitch-common 2.13.1-0ubuntu1.3

Ubuntu 20.04 LTS: openvswitch-common 2.13.1-0ubuntu0.20.04.4

Ubuntu 18.04 LTS: openvswitch-common 2.9.8-0ubuntu0.18.04.2

Ubuntu 16.04 LTS: openvswitch-common 2.5.9-0ubuntu0.16.04.3

In general, a standard system update will make all the necessary changes

"data": "A vulnerability was found in openvswitch. A limitation in the implementation of userspace packet parsing can allow a malicious user to send a specially crafted packet causing the resulting megaflow in the kernel to be too wide, potentially causing a denial of service. Summary:\n\nRed Hat OpenShift Container Platform release 4.7.4 is now available with\nupdates to packages and images that fix several bugs and add enhancements. \n\nRed Hat Product Security has rated this update as having a security impact\nof Moderate. A Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) base score, which\ngives a detailed severity rating, is available for each vulnerability from\nthe CVE link(s) in the References section. \n\n2. Description:\n\nRed Hat OpenShift Container Platform is Red Hat\u0027s cloud computing\nKubernetes application platform solution designed for on-premise or private\ncloud deployments. \n\nRed Hat OpenShift Container Platform is Red Hat\u0027s cloud computing\nKubernetes application platform solution designed for on-premise or private\ncloud deployments. \n\nThis advisory contains the container images for Red Hat OpenShift Container\nPlatform 4.7.4. See the following advisory for the RPM packages for this\nrelease:\n\nhttps://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2021:0958\n\nSpace precludes documenting all of the container images in this advisory. \nSee the following Release Notes documentation, which will be updated\nshortly for this release, for details about these changes:\n\nhttps://docs.openshift.com/container-platform/4.7/release_notes/ocp-4-7-rel\nease-notes.html\n\nThis update fixes the following bugs among others:\n\n* A flaw was found in golang: crypto/elliptic, in which P-224 keys as\ngenerated could return incorrect inputs, which reduced the strength of the\ncryptography. (BZ#1918750)\n\n* This update adds new capabilities to the Baremetal Operator, allowing for\ndifferent reboot modes to be utilized. This allows workloads to be\nrelocated as quickly as possible in the event of a node failure. \nAdditionally, it provides a path for clients to quickly power down systems\nfor remediation purposes and to recover workloads. As a result, workload\nrecovery time is significantly reduced. A remote attacker could use this issue to cause a denial\nof service, or possibly alter packet classification. \n\nUpdate instructions:\n\nThe problem can be corrected by updating your system to the following\npackage versions:\n\nUbuntu 20.10:\n openvswitch-common 2.13.1-0ubuntu1.3\n\nUbuntu 20.04 LTS:\n openvswitch-common 2.13.1-0ubuntu0.20.04.4\n\nUbuntu 18.04 LTS:\n openvswitch-common 2.9.8-0ubuntu0.18.04.2\n\nUbuntu 16.04 LTS:\n openvswitch-common 2.5.9-0ubuntu0.16.04.3\n\nIn general, a standard system update will make all the necessary changes",
