Off-by-one error in the CoreFoundation framework in Apple Mac OS X before 10.6.8 allows context-dependent attackers to execute arbitrary code or cause a denial of service (application crash) via a CFString object that triggers a buffer overflow. Apple Mac OS X is prone to an off-by-one buffer-overflow vulnerability because it fails to perform adequate boundary checks on user-supplied data. An attacker can exploit this issue to execute arbitrary code within the context of the affected application. Failed exploit attempts will result in a denial-of-service condition. This issue affects Mac OS X 10.6 through 10.6.7 and Mac OS X Server 10.6 through 10.6.7.
