Mutt是Michael Elkins软件开发者所研发的一款用于类Unix系统下且基于文本的邮件客户端。NeoMutt是Mutt的修复补丁版本。 NeoMutt 2018-07-16之前版本中的newsrc.c文件的‘nntp_add_group’函数存在栈的缓冲区溢出漏洞，该漏洞源于程序错误地使用了‘sscanf’函数。攻击者可借助特制的数据利用该漏洞在系统上执行任意代码。
