Title
ipc/mqueue, msg, sem: avoid relying on a stack reference past its expiry
Summary
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
ipc/mqueue, msg, sem: avoid relying on a stack reference past its expiry
do_mq_timedreceive calls wq_sleep with a stack local address. The
sender (do_mq_timedsend) uses this address to later call pipelined_send.
This leads to a very hard to trigger race where a do_mq_timedreceive
call might return and leave do_mq_timedsend to rely on an invalid
address, causing the following crash:
RIP: 0010:wake_q_add_safe+0x13/0x60
Call Trace:
__x64_sys_mq_timedsend+0x2a9/0x490
do_syscall_64+0x80/0x680
entry_SYSCALL_64_after_hwframe+0x44/0xa9
RIP: 0033:0x7f5928e40343
The race occurs as:
1. do_mq_timedreceive calls wq_sleep with the address of `struct
ext_wait_queue` on function stack (aliased as `ewq_addr` here) - it
holds a valid `struct ext_wait_queue *` as long as the stack has not
been overwritten.
2. `ewq_addr` gets added to info->e_wait_q[RECV].list in wq_add, and
do_mq_timedsend receives it via wq_get_first_waiter(info, RECV) to call
__pipelined_op.
3. Sender calls __pipelined_op::smp_store_release(&this->state,
STATE_READY). Here is where the race window begins. (`this` is
`ewq_addr`.)
4. If the receiver wakes up now in do_mq_timedreceive::wq_sleep, it
will see `state == STATE_READY` and break.
5. do_mq_timedreceive returns, and `ewq_addr` is no longer guaranteed
to be a `struct ext_wait_queue *` since it was on do_mq_timedreceive's
stack. (Although the address may not get overwritten until another
function happens to touch it, which means it can persist around for an
indefinite time.)
6. do_mq_timedsend::__pipelined_op() still believes `ewq_addr` is a
`struct ext_wait_queue *`, and uses it to find a task_struct to pass to
the wake_q_add_safe call. In the lucky case where nothing has
overwritten `ewq_addr` yet, `ewq_addr->task` is the right task_struct.
In the unlucky case, __pipelined_op::wake_q_add_safe gets handed a
bogus address as the receiver's task_struct causing the crash.
do_mq_timedsend::__pipelined_op() should not dereference `this` after
setting STATE_READY, as the receiver counterpart is now free to return.
Change __pipelined_op to call wake_q_add_safe on the receiver's
task_struct returned by get_task_struct, instead of dereferencing `this`
which sits on the receiver's stack.
As Manfred pointed out, the race potentially also exists in
ipc/msg.c::expunge_all and ipc/sem.c::wake_up_sem_queue_prepare. Fix
those in the same way.

Title
mISDN: fix possible use-after-free in HFC_cleanup()
Summary
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
mISDN: fix possible use-after-free in HFC_cleanup()
This module's remove path calls del_timer(). However, that function
does not wait until the timer handler finishes. This means that the
timer handler may still be running after the driver's remove function
has finished, which would result in a use-after-free.
Fix by calling del_timer_sync(), which makes sure the timer handler
has finished, and unable to re-schedule itself.

Title
isdn: mISDN: Fix sleeping function called from invalid context
Summary
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
isdn: mISDN: Fix sleeping function called from invalid context
The driver can call card->isac.release() function from an atomic
context.
Fix this by calling this function after releasing the lock.
The following log reveals it:

Title
KVM: x86: nSVM: fix potential NULL derefernce on nested migration
Summary
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
KVM: x86: nSVM: fix potential NULL derefernce on nested migration
Turns out that due to review feedback and/or rebases
I accidentally moved the call to nested_svm_load_cr3 to be too early,
before the NPT is enabled, which is very wrong to do.
KVM can't even access guest memory at that point as nested NPT
is needed for that, and of course it won't initialize the walk_mmu,
which is main issue the patch was addressing.
Fix this for real.

Summary
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
perf: Fix list corruption in perf_cgroup_switch()
There's list corruption on cgrp_cpuctx_list. This happens on the
following path:
perf_cgroup_switch: list_for_each_entry(cgrp_cpuctx_list)
cpu_ctx_sched_in
ctx_sched_in
ctx_pinned_sched_in
merge_sched_in
perf_cgroup_event_disable: remove the event from the list
Use list_for_each_entry_safe() to allow removing an entry during

Title
net/sched: act_ct: fix skb leak and crash on ooo frags
Summary
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
net/sched: act_ct: fix skb leak and crash on ooo frags
act_ct adds skb->users before defragmentation. If frags arrive in order,
the last frag's reference is reset in:
inet_frag_reasm_prepare
skb_morph
which is not straightforward.
However when frags arrive out of order, nobody unref the last frag, and
all frags are leaked. The situation is even worse, as initiating packet
capture can lead to a crash[0] when skb has been cloned and shared at the
same time.
Fix the issue by removing skb_get() before defragmentation. act_ct
returns TC_ACT_CONSUMED when defrag failed or in progress.

Title
platform/x86: wmi: Fix opening of char device
Summary
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
platform/x86: wmi: Fix opening of char device
Since commit fa1f68db6ca7 ("drivers: misc: pass miscdevice pointer via
file private data"), the miscdevice stores a pointer to itself inside
filp->private_data, which means that private_data will not be NULL when
wmi_char_open() is called. This might cause memory corruption should
wmi_char_open() be unable to find its driver, something which can
happen when the associated WMI device is deleted in wmi_free_devices().
Fix the problem by using the miscdevice pointer to retrieve the WMI
device data associated with a char device using container_of(). This
also avoids wmi_char_open() picking a wrong WMI device bound to a
driver with the same name as the original driver.

This might cause memory corruption should
wmi_char_open() be unable to find its driver, something which can
happen when the associated WMI device is deleted in wmi_free_devices().

Fix the problem by using the miscdevice pointer to retrieve the WMI
device data associated with a char device using container_of(). There is no network or adjacent-link path into this platform/x86 WMI code.
AC:H - Memory corruption requires wmi_char_open() to fail its driver lookup while misc_open still succeeds, which the fix ties to wmi_free_devices() list_del before misc_deregister—i.e. concurrent ACPI/platform WMI removal (e.g. rmmod wmi). An unprivileged attacker can spam open/ioctl but cannot induce that privileged teardown, matching other module-unload races scored AC:H.
PR:L - The char device is registered with mode 0444, so any local unprivileged user can open it and issue read/ioctl; no init-namespace root or capability is required on the attacker’s side of the race.
UI:N - The attacker opens and operates on the WMI char device in their own process; no victim action is required. Concurrent administrative device removal is Attack Complexity, not User Interaction.
S:U - Type confusion / use-after-free stays inside the host kernel’s WMI/misc authority and does not cross a VM, IOMMU, or sandbox boundary.
C:H - Failed lookup leaves filp->private_data as a miscdevice* that read/ioctl treat as struct wmi_block, causing out-of-bounds reads of adjacent heap; if the wblock is freed while the fd is held this becomes a UAF disclosure primitive, scored High per kernel guidance.
I:H - The same type confusion/UAF makes wmi_ioctl() mutex_lock, dereference handler_data, and copy_from_user() through misinterpreted pointers—yielding heap corruption and an arbitrary-write primitive after reclaim, so Integrity is High.
A:H - Misinterpreting a miscdevice as a wmi_block (or using a freed wblock) reliably leads to invalid memory access, oops/panic, or hang on corrupted locks; any such kernel crash/UAF is Availability High."

Title
tty: n_gsm: fix possible out-of-bounds in gsm0_receive()
Summary
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
tty: n_gsm: fix possible out-of-bounds in gsm0_receive()
Assuming the following:
- side A configures the n_gsm in basic option mode
- side B sends the header of a basic option mode frame with data length 1
- side A switches to advanced option mode
- side B sends 2 data bytes which exceeds gsm->len
Reason: gsm->len is not used in advanced option mode.
- side A switches to basic option mode
- side B keeps sending until gsm0_receive() writes past gsm->buf
Reason: Neither gsm->state nor gsm->len have been reset after
reconfiguration.
Fix this by changing gsm->count to gsm->len comparison from equal to less
than. Also add upper limit checks against the constant MAX_MRU in
gsm0_receive() and gsm1_receive() to harden against memory corruption of
gsm->len and gsm->mru.
All other checks remain as we still need to limit the data according to the
user configuration and actual payload size.

Also add upper limit checks against the constant MAX_MRU in
gsm0_receive() and gsm1_receive() to harden against memory corruption of
gsm->len and gsm->mru.

All other checks remain as we still need to limit the data according to the
user configuration and actual payload size.
AV:L - Exploitation is entirely local — the attacker opens /dev/ptmx, attaches the N_GSM0710 line discipline via TIOCSETD, drives mode switches with the GSMIOC_SETCONF ioctl, and feeds the malicious byte stream by writing to the pty master. No network or physical access is involved.
AC:L - The attacker controls both sides of the pty pair, so the exact sequence (fill count in advanced mode, reconfigure to basic mode, keep writing) is deterministic and requires no race or unpredictable memory state. A tested proof of concept was attached to the upstream bug report (bugzilla 218708).
PR:L - Across most of the affected range (2.6.35 through 6.5, and stable trees prior to the Aug-2023 backport of 67c37756898a), attaching N_GSM0710 required no privileges whatsoever, and GSMIOC_SETCONF has no capability check at all — so a plain unprivileged local account with a pty is sufficient.
UI:N - The attacker performs every step — ldisc attach, reconfiguration, and data injection — without any action by another user or victim process.
S:U - The heap corruption occurs in kernel memory belonging to the same security authority as the kernel itself; no VM, IOMMU, or sandbox boundary is crossed.
C:H - The desynced count/len are also used by gsm_fcs_add_block() and dlci->data(dlci, gsm->buf, gsm->len), producing out-of-bounds reads whose contents are delivered into DLCI tty buffers the attacker can read back, and the heap overflow primitive can be leveraged for broader kernel memory disclosure.
I:H - This is an unbounded linear heap buffer overflow past a 1501-byte kmalloc'd object with fully attacker-controlled bytes and attacker-chosen length, giving control over adjacent kmalloc-2k slab objects — a strong primitive for arbitrary write and control-flow hijacking.
A:H - Overwriting arbitrary amounts of adjacent slab memory reliably corrupts kernel data structures and slab metadata, causing oops or panic; the reporter observed memory corruption in practice."
