Title
MISP template builder exposes non-visible custom galaxies across organisations
Summary
An incorrect visibility condition in the MISP event template builder allowed authenticated non-site-admin users to view galaxies that should not have been visible to their organisation. The custom access-control condition intended to restrict galaxies to those owned by the user’s organisation or distributed beyond it used a PHP comparison expression instead of a query condition. As a result, enabled galaxies, including organisation-only custom galaxies belonging to other organisations, could be exposed in the template builder galaxy list. This could disclose metadata about private galaxy definitions to unauthorised users.

Title
MISP organization administrators can target site administrator accounts for password reset
Summary
An incorrect authorization vulnerability in MISP allows an organization administrator to target site administrator accounts belonging to the same organization through the administrative email functionality. The affected code restricted organization administrators to users within their own organization, but did not exclude accounts assigned a site administrator role from recipient queries. As a result, an organization administrator could perform privileged account-management actions, such as initiating a password reset workflow, against a higher-privileged site administrator account in the same organization. Successful exploitation may allow an authenticated organization administrator to interfere with or potentially take over a site administrator account, resulting in privilege escalation and full compromise of the MISP instance’s confidentiality, integrity, and availability. Attack prerequisites: The attacker must be authenticated as an organization administrator in the same organization as a site administrator account.

Title
MISP: Improper sharing group authorization check when adding attributes
Summary
An improper authorization check in MISP’s attribute creation endpoint allowed an authenticated user with permission to add attributes to submit a sharing_group_id without triggering the corresponding sharing group authorization check, as long as the attribute distribution value was not explicitly set to 4 — “sharing group”. As a result, a user could reference or associate an attribute with a sharing group they were not authorized to use. This could lead to an access-control bypass affecting the integrity of attribute sharing metadata and potentially expose or misuse restricted sharing group relationships. The patch changes the authorization logic so that the sharing group permission check is performed whenever a non-empty sharing_group_id is provided, regardless of the selected distribution value.

Title
PackageKit: dnf5 backend ignores SIMULATE on RepoRemove
Summary
A flaw was found in PackageKit. PackageKit skips the polkit authorization check for transactions carrying the SIMULATE (dry-run) flag. In the dnf5 backend, the RepoRemove handler ignores that contract and always executes the real transaction because its guard is written as (role == REPO_REMOVE || !SIMULATE), which is always true for RepoRemove. An unprivileged local user can therefore perform a genuine package uninstall while claiming to simulate. This vulnerability only affects systems using PackageKit with the dnf5 backend.

NetworkManager did not apply the private_user restriction to the 802-1x.ca-path and phase2-ca-path directory-valued connection properties. This incomplete fix for CVE-2025-9615 allows an unprivileged local user to point a private WPA-Enterprise (802.1X) connection profile's CA path at an attacker-controlled directory, bypassing server certificate validation and enabling credential theft via a rogue access point.

Incorrect Authorization in CISA Malcolm
Summary
Malcolm's nginx Lua role-based access control (RBAC) layer decides whether an authenticated user may reach a role-restricted path (e.g. /htadmin, /auth, /admin_login, /arkime/api/esadmin, NetBox, upload endpoints) by pattern-matching the raw, percent-encoded request URI. Nginx itself, however, selects which location block actually serves the request using the percent-decoded, normalized URI. Because the RBAC check never percent-decodes its input, an authenticated low-privilege user can request an admin-only path using percent-encoding (e.g. /%68tadmin.php) and have nginx route it to the restricted location while the Lua RBAC gate evaluating the un-decoded raw string finds no matching restriction and grants access.

Pods <= 3.3.9 - Unauthenticated Privilege Escalation via Authorization Bypass to Admin Methods via 'pods_admin' AJAX Router
Summary
The Pods – Custom Content Types and Fields plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Privilege Escalation via Authorization Bypass in all versions up to, and including, 3.3.9. The vulnerability exists because the pods_admin AJAX router funnels every access check — including the method allowlist, nonce verification, login enforcement, and capability gate — through pods_error(), which under the JSON meta-box-loader compatibility path only writes failures to the PHP error log and returns false instead of terminating the request, rendering all guards ineffective. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to escalate their privileges to Administrator or overwrite the password of any user account, including the site owner's, enabling complete site takeover, or perform another administrator action.

Architecture and Design
  • Divide the product into anonymous, normal, privileged, and administrative areas. Reduce the attack surface by carefully mapping roles with data and functionality. Use role-based access control (RBAC) [REF-229] to enforce the roles at the appropriate boundaries.
  • Note that this approach may not protect against horizontal authorization, i.e., it will not protect a user from attacking others with the same role.

Ensure that access control checks are performed related to the business logic. These checks may be different than the access control checks that are applied to more generic resources such as files, connections, processes, memory, and database records. For example, a database may restrict access for medical records to a specific database user, but each record might only be intended to be accessible to the patient and the patient's doctor [REF-7].

Strategy: Libraries or Frameworks

  • Use a vetted library or framework that does not allow this weakness to occur or provides constructs that make this weakness easier to avoid.
  • For example, consider using authorization frameworks such as the JAAS Authorization Framework [REF-233] and the OWASP ESAPI Access Control feature [REF-45].
Mitigation
Architecture and Design
  • For web applications, make sure that the access control mechanism is enforced correctly at the server side on every page. Users should not be able to access any unauthorized functionality or information by simply requesting direct access to that page.
  • One way to do this is to ensure that all pages containing sensitive information are not cached, and that all such pages restrict access to requests that are accompanied by an active and authenticated session token associated with a user who has the required permissions to access that page.

Use the access control capabilities of your operating system and server environment and define your access control lists accordingly. Use a "default deny" policy when defining these ACLs.
