Title
Multiple XforWooCommerce Add-On Plugins (Various Versions) - Missing Authorization
Summary
Sixteen XforWooCommerce Add-On Plugins for WordPress are vulnerable to authorization bypass due to a missing capability check on the wp_ajax_svx_ajax_factory function in various versions listed below. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with subscriber-level permissions and above, to read, edit, or delete WordPress settings, plugin settings, and to arbitrarily list all users on a WordPress website. The plugins impacted are: Product Filter for WooCommerce < 8.2.0, Improved Product Options for WooCommerce < 5.3.0, Improved Sale Badges for WooCommerce < 4.4.0, Share, Print and PDF Products for WooCommerce < 2.8.0, Product Loops for WooCommerce < 1.7.0, XforWooCommerce < 1.7.0, Package Quantity Discount < 1.2.0, Price Commander for WooCommerce < 1.3.0, Comment and Review Spam Control for WooCommerce < 1.5.0, Add Product Tabs for WooCommerce < 1.5.0, Autopilot SEO for WooCommerce < 1.6.0, Floating Cart < 1.3.0, Live Search for WooCommerce < 2.1.0, Bulk Add to Cart for WooCommerce < 1.3.0, Live Product Editor for WooCommerce < 4.7.0, and Warranties and Returns for WooCommerce < 5.3.0.

Title
The Plus Addons for Elementor PRO <= 4.1.9 & The Plus Addons for Elementor <= 2.0.6 - Authenticated (Contributor+) Privilege Escalation
Summary
The Plus Addons for Elementor plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to privilege escalation in versions up to, and including 4.1.9 (pro) and 2.0.6 (free). The plugin adds a registration form to the Elementor page builders functionality. As part of the registration form, users can choose which role to set as the default for users upon registration. This field is not hidden for lower-level users so any user with access to the Elementor page builder, such as contributors, can set the default role to administrator. Since contributors can not publish posts, only author+ users can elevate privileges without interaction via a site administrator (to approve a post).

Title
WHMCS Bridge <= 6.1 Subscriber+ Stored Cross-Site Scripting
Summary
The WHMCS Bridge WordPress plugin is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the cc_whmcs_bridge_url parameter found in the ~/whmcs-bridge/bridge_cp.php file which allows attackers to inject arbitrary web scripts, in versions up to and including 6.1. Due to missing authorization checks on the cc_whmcs_bridge_add_admin function, low-level authenticated users such as subscribers can exploit this vulnerability.

CVE-2021-3656 (GCVE-0-2021-3656)

Vulnerability from cvelistv5 – Published: 2022-03-04 18:41 – Updated: 2024-08-03 17:01
VLAI
Summary
A flaw was found in the KVM's AMD code for supporting SVM nested virtualization. The flaw occurs when processing the VMCB (virtual machine control block) provided by the L1 guest to spawn/handle a nested guest (L2). Due to improper validation of the "virt_ext" field, this issue could allow a malicious L1 to disable both VMLOAD/VMSAVE intercepts and VLS (Virtual VMLOAD/VMSAVE) for the L2 guest. As a result, the L2 guest would be allowed to read/write physical pages of the host, resulting in a crash of the entire system, leak of sensitive data or potential guest-to-host escape.

CVE-2021-3653 (GCVE-0-2021-3653)

Vulnerability from cvelistv5 – Published: 2021-09-29 19:41 – Updated: 2024-08-03 17:01
VLAI
Summary
A flaw was found in the KVM's AMD code for supporting SVM nested virtualization. The flaw occurs when processing the VMCB (virtual machine control block) provided by the L1 guest to spawn/handle a nested guest (L2). Due to improper validation of the "int_ctl" field, this issue could allow a malicious L1 to enable AVIC support (Advanced Virtual Interrupt Controller) for the L2 guest. As a result, the L2 guest would be allowed to read/write physical pages of the host, resulting in a crash of the entire system, leak of sensitive data or potential guest-to-host escape. This flaw affects Linux kernel versions prior to 5.14-rc7.

Title
Custom Searchable Data Entry System <= 1.7.1 - Unauthenticated Database Wiping
Summary
The Custom Searchable Data Entry System plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to unauthenticated database wiping in versions up to, and including 1.7.1, due to a missing capability check and lack of sufficient validation on the ghazale_sds_delete_entries_table_row() function. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to completely wipe database tables such as wp_users.

Title
Timetable and Event Schedule by MotoPress <= 2.3.8 - Missing Authorization
Summary
The Timetable and Event Schedule by MotoPress plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to authorization bypass due to a missing capability check on the wp_ajax_route_url() function called via a nopriv AJAX action in versions up to, and including, 2.3.8. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to call that function and perform a wide variety of actions such as including random template, injecting malicious web scripts, and more.

Mitigation
Architecture and Design
  • Divide the product into anonymous, normal, privileged, and administrative areas. Reduce the attack surface by carefully mapping roles with data and functionality. Use role-based access control (RBAC) [REF-229] to enforce the roles at the appropriate boundaries.
  • Note that this approach may not protect against horizontal authorization, i.e., it will not protect a user from attacking others with the same role.
Mitigation
Architecture and Design

Ensure that access control checks are performed related to the business logic. These checks may be different than the access control checks that are applied to more generic resources such as files, connections, processes, memory, and database records. For example, a database may restrict access for medical records to a specific database user, but each record might only be intended to be accessible to the patient and the patient's doctor [REF-7].

Mitigation MIT-4.4
Architecture and Design

Strategy: Libraries or Frameworks

  • Use a vetted library or framework that does not allow this weakness to occur or provides constructs that make this weakness easier to avoid.
  • For example, consider using authorization frameworks such as the JAAS Authorization Framework [REF-233] and the OWASP ESAPI Access Control feature [REF-45].
Mitigation
Architecture and Design
  • For web applications, make sure that the access control mechanism is enforced correctly at the server side on every page. Users should not be able to access any unauthorized functionality or information by simply requesting direct access to that page.
  • One way to do this is to ensure that all pages containing sensitive information are not cached, and that all such pages restrict access to requests that are accompanied by an active and authenticated session token associated with a user who has the required permissions to access that page.
Mitigation
System Configuration Installation

Use the access control capabilities of your operating system and server environment and define your access control lists accordingly. Use a "default deny" policy when defining these ACLs.

CAPEC-665: Exploitation of Thunderbolt Protection Flaws

An adversary leverages a firmware weakness within the Thunderbolt protocol, on a computing device to manipulate Thunderbolt controller firmware in order to exploit vulnerabilities in the implementation of authorization and verification schemes within Thunderbolt protection mechanisms. Upon gaining physical access to a target device, the adversary conducts high-level firmware manipulation of the victim Thunderbolt controller SPI (Serial Peripheral Interface) flash, through the use of a SPI Programing device and an external Thunderbolt device, typically as the target device is booting up. If successful, this allows the adversary to modify memory, subvert authentication mechanisms, spoof identities and content, and extract data and memory from the target device. Currently 7 major vulnerabilities exist within Thunderbolt protocol with 9 attack vectors as noted in the Execution Flow.
