Details

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

dma-buf/sync_file: Don't leak fences on merge failure

Each add_fence() call does a dma_fence_get() on the relevant fence. In the error path, we weren't calling dma_fence_put() so all those fences got leaked. Also, in the krealloc_array failure case, we weren't freeing the fences array. Instead, ensure that i and fences are always zero-initialized and dma_fence_put() all the fences and kfree(fences) on every error path.

Summary
`CHECK`-fails due to attempting to build a reference tensor
Details

Impact

A malicious user can cause a denial of service by altering a SavedModel such that Grappler optimizer would attempt to build a tensor using a reference dtype. This would result in a crash due to a CHECK-fail in the Tensor constructor as reference types are not allowed.

Patches

We have patched the issue in GitHub commit 6b5adc0877de832b2a7c189532dbbbc64622eeb6. The fix will be included in TensorFlow 2.8.0. We will also cherrypick this commit on TensorFlow 2.7.1, TensorFlow 2.6.3, and TensorFlow 2.5.3, as these are also affected and still in supported range.

Impact

When tensorflow::full_type::SubstituteFromAttrs receives a FullTypeDef& t that is not exactly three args, it triggers a CHECK-fail instead of returning a status.

We have patched the issue in GitHub commit 6104f0d4091c260ce9352f9155f7e9b725eab012. The fix will be included in TensorFlow 2.10.0. We will also cherrypick this commit on TensorFlow 2.9.1, TensorFlow 2.8.1, and TensorFlow 2.7.2, as these are also affected and still in supported range.
