Abstraction: Variant · Status: Stable

The product reuses or references memory after it has been freed. At some point afterward, the memory may be allocated again and saved in another pointer, while the original pointer references a location somewhere within the new allocation. Any operations using the original pointer are no longer valid because the memory "belongs" to the code that operates on the new pointer.

This vulnerability occurs due to a dangling pointer in the Primetime SDK related to media player handling of listener objects. A successful attack can lead to arbitrary code execution. nbd_genl_connect() does not properly stop the device on certain error paths after nbd_start_device() has been called. This causes the error path to put nbd->config while recv_work continue to use the config after putting it, leading to use-after-free in recv_work.

This patch moves nbd_start_device() after the backend file creation.
