Vulnerability from variot
QuickTime in Apple Mac OS X before 10.8.5 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code or cause a denial of service (memory corruption and application crash) via a crafted idsc atom in a QuickTime movie file. Apple Mac OS X is prone to a remote memory-corruption vulnerability. The issue arises when the application handles a specially crafted file. Successful exploits may allow attackers to execute arbitrary code in the context of the affected application; failed exploit attempts will cause denial-of-service conditions. The following versions are vulnerable: Mac OS X 10.6.8, 10.7.5 and 10.8 through 10.8.4 Mac OS X Server 10.6.8 and 10.7.5. CVE-ID CVE-2014-1251 : Aliz Hammond working with HP's Zero Day Initiative
QuickTime 7.7.5 may be obtained from the QuickTime Downloads site: http://support.apple.com/downloads/
Information will also be posted to the Apple Security Updates web site: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1222
