Summary
NewsBlur before version 14.5.0 contains a server-side request forgery vulnerability in the add_url endpoint that allows authenticated users to make arbitrary server requests to internal networks by failing to filter private IP addresses. Attackers can exploit this to access localhost services and cloud metadata endpoints, enabling internal network scanning and sensitive data exfiltration.

Summary
MaxKB before 2.10.0 contains a server-side request forgery vulnerability in tool creation and update endpoints that allows authenticated users to make arbitrary server requests by supplying unvalidated downloadCallbackUrl and download_url parameters. Attackers with default workspace USER role can exploit this to access internal network services by providing malicious URLs to the ToolSerializer endpoints.

Title
Independent Analytics <= 2.14.9 - Unauthenticated Server-Side Request Forgery via Tracking Route
Summary
The Independent Analytics plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Server-Side Request Forgery in all versions up to, and including, 2.14.9. This is due to a public tracking route at /wp-json/iawp/search that accepts attacker-controlled referrer_url values when the signature matches, combined with a scheduled favicon fetcher that performs unrestricted cURL requests to stored domains. The signature validation is insufficient because the signature is embedded in publicly-accessible JavaScript and the salt is static per site, allowing attackers to extract valid signatures. The favicon downloader uses raw cURL functions without any SSRF protection mechanisms (no localhost blocking, no private network filtering, and does not use WordPress's wp_safe_remote_* functions). This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to inject malicious referrer domains into the database and trigger server-side requests to arbitrary hosts including internal services.

Summary
HTMLy 3.1.1 contains a Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) vulnerability in the RSS feed import functionality. The function get_feed() in system/admin/admin.php passes user-supplied $feed_url directly to file_get_contents() without any validation. An authenticated attacker with administrative privileges can exploit this by entering a crafted URL (e.g., http://dnslog.example.com, file:///etc/passwd, or http://169.254.169.254 in cloud contexts) via Tools -> Import RSS. The server will then make a request to the attacker-controlled target.

Title
Server-Side Request Forgery in GitHub Enterprise Server allowed extraction of sensitive environment variables via timing side-channel attack
Summary
A server-side request forgery (SSRF) vulnerability was identified in GitHub Enterprise Server that allowed an attacker to extract sensitive environment variables from the instance through a timing side-channel attack against the notebook rendering service. When private mode was disabled, the notebook viewer followed HTTP redirects without revalidating the destination host, enabling an unauthenticated SSRF to internal services. By chaining this with regex filter queries against an internal API and measuring response time differences, an attacker could infer secret values character by character. Exploitation required that private mode be disabled and that the attacker be able to chain the instance's open redirect endpoint through an external redirect to reach internal services. This vulnerability affected all versions of GitHub Enterprise Server prior to 3.21 and was fixed in versions 3.14.26, 3.15.21, 3.16.17, 3.17.14, 3.18.8, 3.19.5, and 3.20.1. This vulnerability was reported via the GitHub Bug Bounty program.

CAPEC-664: Server Side Request Forgery

An adversary exploits improper input validation by submitting maliciously crafted input to a target application running on a server, with the goal of forcing the server to make a request either to itself, to web services running in the server’s internal network, or to external third parties. If successful, the adversary’s request will be made with the server’s privilege level, bypassing its authentication controls. This ultimately allows the adversary to access sensitive data, execute commands on the server’s network, and make external requests with the stolen identity of the server. Server Side Request Forgery attacks differ from Cross Site Request Forgery attacks in that they target the server itself, whereas CSRF attacks exploit an insecure user authentication mechanism to perform unauthorized actions on the user's behalf.
