Vulnerability from github – Published: 2024-11-18 12:30 – Updated: 2025-11-03 21:31

Summary
Apache Tomcat - Authentication Bypass
Details

Unchecked Error Condition vulnerability in Apache Tomcat. If Tomcat is configured to use a custom Jakarta Authentication (formerly JASPIC) ServerAuthContext component which may throw an exception during the authentication process without explicitly setting an HTTP status to indicate failure, the authentication may not fail, allowing the user to bypass the authentication process. There are no known Jakarta Authentication components that behave in this way.

This issue affects Apache Tomcat: from 11.0.0-M1 through 11.0.0-M26, from 10.1.0-M1 through 10.1.30, from 9.0.0-M1 through 9.0.95. The following versions were EOL at the time the CVE was created but are known to be affected: 8.5.0 though 8.5.100.

Users are recommended to upgrade to version 11.0.0, 10.1.31 or 9.0.96, which fix the issue.

Vulnerability from github – Published: 2026-04-10 00:30 – Updated: 2026-04-10 00:30

Details

An Improper Check for Unusual or Exceptional Conditions vulnerability in the chassis control daemon (chassisd) of Juniper Networks Junos OS on SRX1600, SRX2300 and SRX4300 allows a local attacker with low privileges to cause a complete Denial of Service (DoS).

When a specific 'show chassis' CLI command is executed, chassisd crashes and restarts which causes a momentary impact to all traffic until all modules are online again.

This issue affects Junos OS on SRX1600, SRX2300 and SRX4300:

  • 24.4 versions before 24.4R1-S3, 24.4R2.

This issue does not affect Junos OS versions before 24.4R1.

Details

An Improper Check for Unusual or Exceptional Conditions vulnerability in BGP route processing of Juniper Networks Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved allows an attacker to cause Routing Protocol Daemon (RPD) crash by sending a BGP route with invalid next-hop resulting in a Denial of Service (DoS). Continued receipt and processing of this packet will create a sustained Denial of Service (DoS) condition. This issue only affects systems without import policy configured. This issue affects: Juniper Networks Junos OS 21.1 versions prior to 21.1R3-S4; 21.2 versions prior to 21.2R3-S3; 21.3 versions prior to 21.3R3-S2; 21.4 versions prior to 21.4R2-S2, 21.4R3; 22.1 versions prior to 22.1R1-S2, 22.1R2; 22.2 versions prior to 22.2R1-S1, 22.2R2. Juniper Networks Junos OS Evolved 21.4-EVO versions prior to 21.4R2-S2-EVO, 21.4R3-EVO; 22.1-EVO versions prior to 22.1R1-S2-EVO, 22.1R2-EVO; 22.2-EVO versions prior to 22.2R1-S1-EVO, 22.2R2-EVO. This issue does not affect: Juniper Networks Junos OS versions prior to 21.1R1. Juniper Networks Junos OS Evolved versions prior to 21.3R1-EVO.

Details

In setImpl of AlarmManagerService.java, there is a possible way to put a device into a boot loop due to an uncaught exception. This could lead to local denial of service with no additional execution privileges needed. User interaction is not needed for exploitation.Product: AndroidVersions: Android-10 Android-11 Android-12 Android-12L Android-13Android ID: A-234441463

Mitigation MIT-3
Requirements

Strategy: Language Selection

  • Use a language that does not allow this weakness to occur or provides constructs that make this weakness easier to avoid.
  • Choose languages with features such as exception handling that force the programmer to anticipate unusual conditions that may generate exceptions. Custom exceptions may need to be developed to handle unusual business-logic conditions. Be careful not to pass sensitive exceptions back to the user (CWE-209, CWE-248).
Mitigation
Implementation

Check the results of all functions that return a value and verify that the value is expected.

Mitigation
Implementation

If using exception handling, catch and throw specific exceptions instead of overly-general exceptions (CWE-396, CWE-397). Catch and handle exceptions as locally as possible so that exceptions do not propagate too far up the call stack (CWE-705). Avoid unchecked or uncaught exceptions where feasible (CWE-248).

Mitigation MIT-39
Implementation
  • Ensure that error messages only contain minimal details that are useful to the intended audience and no one else. The messages need to strike the balance between being too cryptic (which can confuse users) or being too detailed (which may reveal more than intended). The messages should not reveal the methods that were used to determine the error. Attackers can use detailed information to refine or optimize their original attack, thereby increasing their chances of success.
  • If errors must be captured in some detail, record them in log messages, but consider what could occur if the log messages can be viewed by attackers. Highly sensitive information such as passwords should never be saved to log files.
  • Avoid inconsistent messaging that might accidentally tip off an attacker about internal state, such as whether a user account exists or not.
  • Exposing additional information to a potential attacker in the context of an exceptional condition can help the attacker determine what attack vectors are most likely to succeed beyond DoS.
Mitigation MIT-5
Implementation

Strategy: Input Validation

  • Assume all input is malicious. Use an "accept known good" input validation strategy, i.e., use a list of acceptable inputs that strictly conform to specifications. Reject any input that does not strictly conform to specifications, or transform it into something that does.
  • When performing input validation, consider all potentially relevant properties, including length, type of input, the full range of acceptable values, missing or extra inputs, syntax, consistency across related fields, and conformance to business rules. As an example of business rule logic, "boat" may be syntactically valid because it only contains alphanumeric characters, but it is not valid if the input is only expected to contain colors such as "red" or "blue."
  • Do not rely exclusively on looking for malicious or malformed inputs. This is likely to miss at least one undesirable input, especially if the code's environment changes. This can give attackers enough room to bypass the intended validation. However, denylists can be useful for detecting potential attacks or determining which inputs are so malformed that they should be rejected outright.
Mitigation MIT-38
Architecture and Design Implementation

If the program must fail, ensure that it fails gracefully (fails closed). There may be a temptation to simply let the program fail poorly in cases such as low memory conditions, but an attacker may be able to assert control before the software has fully exited. Alternately, an uncontrolled failure could cause cascading problems with other downstream components; for example, the program could send a signal to a downstream process so the process immediately knows that a problem has occurred and has a better chance of recovery.

Mitigation
Architecture and Design

Use system limits, which should help to prevent resource exhaustion. However, the product should still handle low resource conditions since they may still occur.

No CAPEC attack patterns related to this CWE.
