Vulnerability from github – Published: 2025-05-01 15:31 – Updated: 2025-11-04 18:31In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
ata: pata_pxa: Fix potential NULL pointer dereference in pxa_ata_probe()
devm_ioremap() returns NULL on error. Currently, pxa_ata_probe() does not check for this case, which can result in a NULL pointer dereference.
Add NULL check after devm_ioremap() to prevent this issue.

Vulnerability from github – Published: 2025-03-27 18:31 – Updated: 2025-04-15 15:30In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
efi: fix potential NULL deref in efi_mem_reserve_persistent
When iterating on a linked list, a result of memremap is dereferenced without checking it for NULL.
This patch adds a check that falls back on allocating a new page in case memremap doesn't succeed.
Found by Linux Verification Center (linuxtesting.org) with SVACE.

GHSA-FXQM-P968-C5X9
Vulnerability from github – Published: 2025-07-25 18:30 – Updated: 2025-11-19 18:31In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
wifi: mt76: mt7925: prevent NULL pointer dereference in mt7925_sta_set_decap_offload()
Add a NULL check for msta->vif before accessing its members to prevent a kernel panic in AP mode deployment. This also fix the issue reported in [1].
The crash occurs when this function is triggered before the station is fully initialized. The call trace shows a page fault at mt7925_sta_set_decap_offload() due to accessing resources when msta->vif is NULL.
Fix this by adding an early return if msta->vif is NULL and also check wcid.sta is ready. This ensures we only proceed with decap offload configuration when the station's state is properly initialized.

GHSA-FXQX-QP67-XRVV
Vulnerability from github – Published: 2024-10-21 21:30 – Updated: 2025-11-04 00:31In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
fbcon: Fix a NULL pointer dereference issue in fbcon_putcs
syzbot has found a NULL pointer dereference bug in fbcon. Here is the simplified C reproducer:
struct param { uint8_t type; struct tiocl_selection ts; };
int main() { struct fb_con2fbmap con2fb; struct param param;
int fd = open("/dev/fb1", 0, 0);
con2fb.console = 0x19;
con2fb.framebuffer = 0;
ioctl(fd, FBIOPUT_CON2FBMAP, &con2fb);
param.type = 2;
param.ts.xs = 0; param.ts.ys = 0;
param.ts.xe = 0; param.ts.ye = 0;
param.ts.sel_mode = 0;
int fd1 = open("/dev/tty1", O_RDWR, 0);
ioctl(fd1, TIOCLINUX, ¶m);
con2fb.console = 1;
con2fb.framebuffer = 0;
ioctl(fd, FBIOPUT_CON2FBMAP, &con2fb);
return 0;
}
After calling ioctl(fd1, TIOCLINUX, ¶m), the subsequent ioctl(fd, FBIOPUT_CON2FBMAP, &con2fb) causes the kernel to follow a different execution path:
set_con2fb_map -> con2fb_init_display -> fbcon_set_disp -> redraw_screen -> hide_cursor -> clear_selection -> highlight -> invert_screen -> do_update_region -> fbcon_putcs -> ops->putcs
Since ops->putcs is a NULL pointer, this leads to a kernel panic. To prevent this, we need to call set_blitting_type() within set_con2fb_map() to properly initialize ops->putcs.

Vulnerability from github – Published: 2024-02-28 09:30 – Updated: 2024-12-06 18:30In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
nvmet-rdma: Fix NULL deref when SEND is completed with error
When running some traffic and taking down the link on peer, a retry counter exceeded error is received. This leads to nvmet_rdma_error_comp which tried accessing the cq_context to obtain the queue. The cq_context is no longer valid after the fix to use shared CQ mechanism and should be obtained similar to how it is obtained in other functions from the wc->qp.

GHSA-FXWF-88XM-53QQ
Vulnerability from github – Published: 2025-06-18 12:30 – Updated: 2025-11-14 18:31In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
ice: xsk: prohibit usage of non-balanced queue id
Fix the following scenario: 1. ethtool -L $IFACE rx 8 tx 96 2. xdpsock -q 10 -t -z
Above refers to a case where user would like to attach XSK socket in txonly mode at a queue id that does not have a corresponding Rx queue. At this moment ice's XSK logic is tightly bound to act on a "queue pair", e.g. both Tx and Rx queues at a given queue id are disabled/enabled and both of them will get XSK pool assigned, which is broken for the presented queue configuration. This results in the splat included at the bottom, which is basically an OOB access to Rx ring array.
To fix this, allow using the ids only in scope of "combined" queues reported by ethtool. However, logic should be rewritten to allow such configurations later on, which would end up as a complete rewrite of the control path, so let us go with this temporary fix.

GHSA-FXX9-Q7VV-G6P2
Vulnerability from github – Published: 2024-07-29 15:30 – Updated: 2025-11-04 00:31In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
null_blk: fix validation of block size
Block size should be between 512 and PAGE_SIZE and be a power of 2. The current check does not validate this, so update the check.
Without this patch, null_blk would Oops due to a null pointer deref when loaded with bs=1536 [1].
[axboe: remove unnecessary braces and != 0 check]

Mitigation MIT-56
For any pointers that could have been modified or provided from a function that can return NULL, check the pointer for NULL before use. When working with a multithreaded or otherwise asynchronous environment, ensure that proper locking APIs are used to lock before the check, and unlock when it has finished [REF-1484].
Mitigation
Select a programming language that is not susceptible to these issues.
Mitigation
Check the results of all functions that return a value and verify that the value is non-null before acting upon it.
Mitigation
Identify all variables and data stores that receive information from external sources, and apply input validation to make sure that they are only initialized to expected values.
Mitigation
Explicitly initialize all variables and other data stores, either during declaration or just before the first usage.
No CAPEC attack patterns related to this CWE.
