Details

PoDoFo::Impose::PdfTranslator::setSource() in pdftranslator.cpp in PoDoFo 0.9.6 has a NULL pointer dereference that can (for example) be triggered by sending a crafted PDF file to the podofoimpose binary. It allows an attacker to cause Denial of Service (Segmentation fault) or possibly have unspecified other impact.

GHSA-2PRG-GCGC-MM7V

Vulnerability from github – Published: 2025-07-03 09:30 – Updated: 2025-11-21 00:30
VLAI
Details

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

wifi: iwlwifi: mld: avoid panic on init failure

In case of an error during init, in_hw_restart will be set, but it will never get cleared. Instead, we will retry to init again, and then we will act like we are in a restart when we are actually not.

This causes (among others) to a NULL pointer dereference when canceling rx_omi::finished_work, that was not even initialized, because we thought that we are in hw_restart.

Set in_hw_restart to true only if the fw is running, then we know that FW was loaded successfully and we are not going to the retry loop.

GHSA-2Q2C-9VGR-84GW

Vulnerability from github – Published: 2025-04-16 15:34 – Updated: 2025-11-03 21:33

Details

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

RDMA/mlx5: Fix mlx5_poll_one() cur_qp update flow

When cur_qp isn't NULL, in order to avoid fetching the QP from the radix tree again we check if the next cqe QP is identical to the one we already have.

The bug however is that we are checking if the QP is identical by checking the QP number inside the CQE against the QP number inside the mlx5_ib_qp, but that's wrong since the QP number from the CQE is from FW so it should be matched against mlx5_core_qp which is our FW QP number.

Otherwise we could use the wrong QP when handling a CQE which could cause the kernel trace below.

This issue is mainly noticeable over QPs 0 & 1, since for now they are the only QPs in our driver whereas the QP number inside mlx5_ib_qp doesn't match the QP number inside mlx5_core_qp.

GHSA-2Q2V-7X59-8W6V

Vulnerability from github – Published: 2024-05-01 15:30 – Updated: 2024-12-23 18:30
VLAI
Details

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

nfp: flower: handle acti_netdevs allocation failure

The kmalloc_array() in nfp_fl_lag_do_work() will return null, if the physical memory has run out. As a result, if we dereference the acti_netdevs, the null pointer dereference bugs will happen.

This patch adds a check to judge whether allocation failure occurs. If it happens, the delayed work will be rescheduled and try again.

Vulnerability from github – Published: 2025-09-05 18:31 – Updated: 2026-05-12 15:31
VLAI
Details

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

scsi: lpfc: Check for hdwq null ptr when cleaning up lpfc_vport structure

If a call to lpfc_sli4_read_rev() from lpfc_sli4_hba_setup() fails, the resultant cleanup routine lpfc_sli4_vport_delete_fcp_xri_aborted() may occur before sli4_hba.hdwqs are allocated. This may result in a null pointer dereference when attempting to take the abts_io_buf_list_lock for the first hardware queue. Fix by adding a null ptr check on phba->sli4_hba.hdwq and early return because this situation means there must have been an error during port initialization.

GHSA-2QGR-37H8-X3W9

Vulnerability from github – Published: 2024-05-21 15:31 – Updated: 2024-12-24 18:30

Details

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

NFS: Fix a potential NULL dereference in nfs_get_client()

None of the callers are expecting NULL returns from nfs_get_client() so this code will lead to an Oops. It's better to return an error pointer. I expect that this is dead code so hopefully no one is affected.

Mitigation MIT-56
Implementation

For any pointers that could have been modified or provided from a function that can return NULL, check the pointer for NULL before use. When working with a multithreaded or otherwise asynchronous environment, ensure that proper locking APIs are used to lock before the check, and unlock when it has finished [REF-1484].

Mitigation
Requirements

Select a programming language that is not susceptible to these issues.

Mitigation
Implementation

Check the results of all functions that return a value and verify that the value is non-null before acting upon it.

Mitigation
Architecture and Design

Identify all variables and data stores that receive information from external sources, and apply input validation to make sure that they are only initialized to expected values.

Mitigation
Implementation

Explicitly initialize all variables and other data stores, either during declaration or just before the first usage.

No CAPEC attack patterns related to this CWE.
