The vulnerability is due to improper memory management when DHCPv6 packets are received on an interface of the targeted device. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by sending a high number of malicious DHCPv6 packets to be processed by an affected device. A successful exploit could allow the attacker to cause the system to run low on memory, which could cause an eventual reboot of an affected device. The vulnerability only applies to IPv6 protocol packets and not for IPv4 protocol packets. This vulnerability affects Cisco Nexus 9000 Series Fabric Switches in ACI Mode running software version 13.0(1k). The vulnerability can only be exploited when unicast routing is enabled on the Bridge Domain (BD). DHCP and DHCP relay do not have to be configured for the vulnerability to be exploited. Original Description
Allocation of Resources Without Limits or Throttling vulnerability in benoitc hackney allows Flooding. hackney_h3:await_response_loop/6 accumulates the HTTP/3 response body in memory without any size cap. The after Timeout clause is a per-message inactivity timer that resets on every received chunk, housekeeping message, or settings frame — it is not a wall-clock deadline. A malicious HTTP/3 server that emits one small chunk every Timeout - 1 ms with Fin = false and never sends a final frame keeps the loop alive indefinitely while the accumulation buffer grows linearly without bound, eventually exhausting the BEAM process heap and causing an out-of-memory condition.
This issue affects hackney: from 2.0.0 before 4.0.1.

The Candid library causes a Denial of Service while parsing a specially crafted payload with empty data type. For example, if the payload is record { * ; empty } and the canister interface expects record { * } then the rust candid decoder treats empty as an extra field required by the type. The problem with type empty is that the candid rust library wrongly categorizes empty as a recoverable error when skipping the field and thus causing an infinite decoding loop.
Canisters using affected versions of candid are exposed to denial of service by causing the decoding to run indefinitely until the canister traps due to reaching maximum instruction limit per execution round. Repeated exposure to the payload will result in degraded performance of the canister.
For asset canister users, dfx versions >= 0.14.4 to <= 0.15.2-beta.0 ships asset canister with an affected version of candid.

< 0.9.0or>= 0.9.10 - Rust canister interfaces of type other than
record { * } - Motoko based canisters

Patches
The issue has been patched in 0.9.10. All rust based canisters on candid versions >= 0.9.0 must upgrade their candid versions to >= 0.9.10 and deploy their canisters to mainnet as soon as possible.
Workarounds
There is no workaround for canisters using the affected versions of candid other than upgrading to patched version.

The tar.bz2 installer path in src/agents/skills-install-download.ts used shell tar preflight/extract logic that did not share the same hardening guarantees as the centralized archive extractor.
This allowed crafted .tar.bz2 archives to bypass special-entry blocking and extracted-size guardrails enforced on other archive paths, causing local availability impact during skill install.

Mitigation
Design throttling mechanisms into the system architecture. The best protection is to limit the amount of resources that an unauthorized user can cause to be expended. A strong authentication and access control model will help prevent such attacks from occurring in the first place. The login application should be protected against DoS attacks as much as possible. Limiting the database access, perhaps by caching result sets, can help minimize the resources expended. To further limit the potential for a DoS attack, consider tracking the rate of requests received from users and blocking requests that exceed a defined rate threshold.
Mitigation
- Mitigation of resource exhaustion attacks requires that the target system either:
- The first of these solutions is an issue in itself though, since it may allow attackers to prevent the use of the system by a particular valid user. If the attacker impersonates the valid user, they may be able to prevent the user from accessing the server in question.
- The second solution is simply difficult to effectively institute -- and even when properly done, it does not provide a full solution. It simply makes the attack require more resources on the part of the attacker.
- recognizes the attack and denies that user further access for a given amount of time, or
- uniformly throttles all requests in order to make it more difficult to consume resources more quickly than they can again be freed.

CAPEC-147: XML Ping of the Death
An attacker initiates a resource depletion attack where a large number of small XML messages are delivered at a sufficiently rapid rate to cause a denial of service or crash of the target. Transactions such as repetitive SOAP transactions can deplete resources faster than a simple flooding attack because of the additional resources used by the SOAP protocol and the resources necessary to process SOAP messages. The transactions used are immaterial as long as they cause resource utilization on the target. In other words, this is a normal flooding attack augmented by using messages that will require extra processing on the target.
CAPEC-227: Sustained Client Engagement
An adversary attempts to deny legitimate users access to a resource by continually engaging a specific resource in an attempt to keep the resource tied up as long as possible. The adversary's primary goal is not to crash or flood the target, which would alert defenders; rather it is to repeatedly perform actions or abuse algorithmic flaws such that a given resource is tied up and not available to a legitimate user. By carefully crafting a requests that keep the resource engaged through what is seemingly benign requests, legitimate users are limited or completely denied access to the resource.
CAPEC-492: Regular Expression Exponential Blowup
An adversary may execute an attack on a program that uses a poor Regular Expression(Regex) implementation by choosing input that results in an extreme situation for the Regex. A typical extreme situation operates at exponential time compared to the input size. This is due to most implementations using a Nondeterministic Finite Automaton(NFA) state machine to be built by the Regex algorithm since NFA allows backtracking and thus more complex regular expressions.
