Pegatron Tdelo64.sys improperly exposes privileged hardware access functionality through the \\.\TdeIo device interface. IOCTL handlers including TDE_IOCTL_INDEXIO_READ and TDE_IOCTL_INDEXIO_WRITE permit unprivileged user-mode callers to perform arbitrary hardware I/O port reads and writes without authorization checks. A flaw was found in the way Linux kernel KVM hypervisor before 4.18 emulated instructions such as sgdt/sidt/fxsave/fxrstor. It did not check current privilege(CPL) level while emulating unprivileged instructions. An unprivileged guest user/process could use this flaw to potentially escalate privileges inside guest.

CAPEC-122: Privilege Abuse
