An attacker can exploit this issue to cause a denial-of-service condition.

<p>The vulnerability is reported in versions 2.3.x, 2.4.x, 2.5.x, 2.6.x,
3.1.xS, 3.2.xS, and 3.3.xS.  Repeated exploits
could create a sustained DoS condition.  Devices that
are not configured to accept SSHv2 connections are not affected by
this vulnerability.</p>

<p>Note: The March 28, 2012, Cisco IOS Software Security Advisory
